At the interfaces between man and machine, indicator and control panels play an important role. Their task is to alert visually and acoustically, while implementing information from the system with instructions for safe human interaction. This is especially true when critical operating situations are initiated.
The CP9xx Control Panel offers the user a solution that meets the requirements of modern medical areas as well as for industrial and earmarked buildings.
Electronic products – especially when they are relevant to safety – must be updated regularly. Bender GmbH and Co. had specific needs and wanted a module that enabled the use of a new processor without having to change the main board. Other goals included higher computing power and product longevity. They opted for a unique migration path for their COMTRAXX® CP9xx series.
In collaboration with PHYTEC’s development engineers, a concept was developed and implemented that allows the use of the phyCORE-i.MX 8M Plus module on existing Bender base boards.
- Development of a mapper board that provided the connectors of the phyCORE-i.MX 6 module on its underside in relation to the pin muxings of the Bender applications. A phyCORE-i.MX 8M Plus module was soldered directly onto the mapper board.
- The innovations in the graphics area of the i.MX 8M Plus were implemented by translating the MIPI signals to the parallel interface of the original design
This project was preceded by a feasibility study and PHYTEC was chosen as a preferred SOM vender known for intensive and customer-oriented service.
