The Sonnen Eco is a fully integrated energy storage system that includes an inverter and smart energy management software. This high-tech storage system proves itself in thousands of households every day by converting excess AC electricity to DC for storage in its battery modules. Upon demand the electricity is converted back to AC: day, night, or during an outage. The combination of a photovoltaic (PV) system and a battery covers about 75% of a typical customer’s yearly energy requirement with self-produced and clean energy. Since the energy is being generated on a rooftop PV, and not by an energy utility, this system also provides for private household energy independence.
PHYTEC created a custom configuration System on Module to reduce excess components and enable Sonnen to provide a truly eco-friendly solution. This allowed for a capable solution that maintained energy-efficiency standards. The phyCORE-i.MX 6 SOM handles all processing needs of the Eco and allows for innovative features such as time-of-use load shifting, solar self-consumption, connectivity options, and more.
