Product Overview
The phyCORE®-AM65x is an insert-ready System on Module ideal for industrial communication systems and factory automation. The phyCORE-AM65x SOM provides the features that next-gen equipment focuses on like connectivity, automation, machine learning, and real-time data. These require high performance processing with up to 4 CPU cores, multiprotocol industrial networking support for reliable machine to machine communication, as well as general purpose interface controls like GPIO, SPI, and I2C. This SOM has one of PHYTEC’s largest interconnect with 180 pins available including access to 6 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
Features
Functional Safety
As heavy duty machinery becomes more automated it is important to ensure the safety of factory workers who interact with the equipment. Added functional safety features such as a dedicated MCU Safe Island on the AM65x processor help make sure critical tasks always remain active.
WiFi On-Board
The phyCORE-AM65x SOM can be populated with a pre-certified 2.4 or 5 GHz WiFi solution to enable your system as an access point or connect to remote sensors.
Industrial Communication
The phyCORE-AM65x SOM supports the Sitara AM65x 6 PRU-ICSSG interfaces. These interfaces can be loaded with various industrial communication protocol stacks.
Future Proof
Industry 4.0 introduces new guidelines such as TSN for real-time data transfer. Get started with 10/100Mbps protocols such as EtherCAT and migrate to Gigabit protocols as they become available.

The AM65x Processor
The Texas Instruments Sitara™ AM65x processor features quad Arm® Cortex®-A53 cores to run your application, 6 Industrial PRU interfaces for time sensitive communication protocols and the isolated dual Cortex®-R5F cores for functional safety support. Additional features such as an integrated lockstep MCU subsystem and diagnostic libraries help enable functional safety systems.
