Product Overview
This PHYTEC Accessory Bundle enables success in creating custom cryptographic keys for use in production software. PHYTEC strives to support a wide range of customer applications. PHYTEC Accessories help minimize development kit complexity, while providing flexibility for applications that may require additional interface support. This accessory bundle is available for the following development kits:
- phyCORE-i.MX8M Plus development kit.
PHYTEC’s SOMs are designed for maximum compatibility and flexibility, preserving critical security features from the SoC with PHYTEC Linux BSPs including reference implementations for Secure Boot, encrypted storage, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and trusted execution environments (TEEs). Because each application and implementation will have different security requirements, PHYTEC recommends that you design secure elements into your custom carrier board. In order to get started early and ensure success, we offer this Security Success Bundle to help accelerate your project and help you successfully implement the required security features from the start.

- 1x SOM left unsecured, for general application development
- 1x SOM for burning PHYTEC Development Keys (evaluating PHYTEC’s security reference implementation)
- 1x SOM for burning Customer-specific production keys
- 1x backup SOM (mistakes happen during development, incorrectly configured keys will brick the SOM)
Pre-tested and detailed documentation
- How to build and use PHYTEC’s security-provisioning reference Linux distribution for enforcing security on a SOM with PHYTEC’s development keys.
- How to build and install PHYTEC’s secure reference Linux distribution, which is used to boot a secured SOM.
- How to enable Secure Key Storage using a PHYTEC development kit’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM), which manages and protects keys internal to the system.
- How to enable Filesystem encryption on your secured SOM, in order to protect data stored on the device.
- How to safely and securely issue a software update to the secured SOM using RAUC.
- How to create custom cryptographic keys (for replacing PHYTEC’s development keys) for use in your production software.
