SOM Description
The phyCORE-MPC555 is a cost-effective, high-performance System on Module that packs the power of Freescale's embedded 32-bit PowerPC MPC555 microcontroller within a miniature footprint. All signals and ports of the MPC555 extend to two Molex high-density (0.635 mm pitch) 160-pin header connectors, making the controller resources readily available to the developer. These high-density pins allow the module to be plugged like a "big chip" into target hardware. The phyCORE-MPC555 can be populated with a maximum of 4 MB flow-through synchronous external BURST-SRAM for DATA storage and a maximum of 4 MB Flash memory at 0 wait states. The Flash serves as Boot and CODE memory and supports In-System programming. An additional 26 KB on-chip SRAM and 448 KB on-chip Flash memory is available on the MPC555. The 272-pin BGA controller also boasts a 64-bit Floating Point Unit, SPI, dual on-chip Full 2.0B CAN, dual-channel UART, and dual 16-channel A/D converters with 10-bit resolution.
SOM Features
- System on Module in subminiature dimensions (72 x 57 mm) according to phyCORE low EMI specifications
- Freescale 32-bit MPC555 embedded controller (40 MHz) in a 272-pin BGA package
- Controller and board-level signals extend to two high-density (0.635 mm) 160-pin Molex connectors on underside of SOM
-
On-board memory:
- SRAM: 128 KB to 8 MB flow-through synchronous external burst SRAM (32-bit access, 0 wait states, 2-1-1-1 Burst Mode)
- Flash: 512 KB to 4 MB external Flash
- Serial: 4 KB I²C EEPROM (alternately 512 byte I²C-FRAM)
- I²C Real-Time Clock with Calender/Alarm
- Dual Full 2.0B CAN with PCA82C250 transceiver support
- SPI and dual UART with RS-232 level-converters (optionally configurable as TTL-level signals)
- Dual 16-channel A/D-converters with 10-bit resolution
- BDM debug-interface
- Requires 5V/40mA and 3.3V/300-620 mA operating voltage
- Industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C)
- MTBF = 776,765 hours
