SOM Description

The phyCORE-XC167 belongs to PHYTEC's phyCORE System on Module family and supports the XC167CI controller from Infineon in TQFP-144-50 housing. The Flash can easily be programmed on board. Support of the XC16x family "Single Chip Mode" provides the user with maximum flexibility for expansion via external peripherals. An additional feature is the possibility of connecting the CAN interface from within the address area, whereby direct external addressing of up to 16 MB address space is enabled. On-Chip Full 2.0B CAN, 99 I/O lines and two serial interfaces are additional board features. Data transfer rates of 10Mbit/s are possible with the on-board CS8900 Ethernet controller from Cirrus Logic. All controller and peripheral signals extend to two 100-pin, high-density Molex connectors on the underside of the phyCORE-XC167.

SOM Features

  • Subminiature System on Module (60 x 53 mm) achieved through modern SMD technology
  • Populated with the Infineon XC167CI microcontroller (TQFP-144 packaging) featuring two on-chip 2.0B CAN modules
  • 20 to 40 MHz clock frequency (50 ns – 25 ns instruction cycle)
  • Improved interference safety achieved through multi-layer PCB technology and dedicated Ground pins
  • Controller signals and ports extend to two 100-pin high-density (0.635 mm) Molex connectors aligning two sides of the board, enabling it to be plugged like a “big chip” into target application
  • 256 KB SRAM (optional 1 MB)
  • 512 KB fast-SRAM (15 ns access time)
  • 256 KB (512 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB) Flash, In-System-Programming (ISP)
  • On-board Flash programming, no dedicated Flash programming voltage required through use of 5 V Flash devices
  • 4 to 32 KB I2C E²PROM1, or 512 Byte to 8 KB FRAM
  • 16-bit, multiplexed bus mode
  • 16 MB address space
  • Free Chip Select signals for easy connection of peripheral devices
  • RS-232 transceiver supports two serial interfaces
  • CS8900A Ethernet controller (populating all standard units PCM-021-0020E)
  • 2 x 82C251 CAN interfaces
  • JTAG interface
  • Voltage Supervisory Chip for Reset logic and power supervision
  • I²C Real-Time Clock with internal quartz
  • Operates with two supply voltages, 5 V and 2.5 V / <220 mA
