SOM Description

The phyCORE-PXA255 is designed for use in industrial applications that require high processing speed with low power. All that is required for operation is a single supply voltage of 3.3V. 128 MB SDRAM and 64 MB Flash are integrated on the subminiature (70 x 57 mm) System on Module. The program memory can be expanded on the module with memory cards in the 8 to 512 MB range. An SPI port expander with 28 GPIOs for matrix keypads and a touch screen controller are also available on the phyCORE-XScale/PXA255. A 10/100Mbps Ethernet and a CAN controller also populate the module, enabling connection of the phyCORE-PXA255 to networks. All controller and peripheral signals extend to two 160-pin Molex connectors on the underside of the phyCORE-XScale/PXA255.

SOM Features

  • Subminiature System on Module in 70 x 57 mm dimensions according to low EMI phyCORE design
  • Intel PXA255 XScale microprocessor
  • Controller and board-level signals extend to two high-density (0.635 mm) 160-pin Molex connectors on underside of SOM
  • Memory Management Unit (MMU) for virtual addressing of the memory, enabling support of Linux and WinCE
  • On-board memory:
    • Flash: up to 64 MB
    • SDRAM: up to 128 MB
  • Free Chip Select and GPIO signals
