Description
CAN developments and applications for communication in a system with sensors, actuators and the like for visualising information are becoming increasingly common. Likewise PCs are often available, which can handle one of the mentioned tasks or can serve as a toolbox for the CAN development. The PC-ISA-CAN-Card serves as an easy to use and cost-effective solution for connection of a CAN-Bus to the PC. Configuration is flexible for adaptation to the PC, since eight different port adresses and interrupts may be selected. The PC-ISA-CAN-Card is distributed with DOS- and Windows-software and sources for user programming.
The size of the plug-in card is kept small in accordance with the ISA standard (16-bit). Consequently it is also suitable in PCs, where the area is substantially equipped. Diverse configuration possibilities enable the port addresses to be configured to 100h, 120h, 140h, 220h, 240h, 300h, 320h or 340h, whereby the hardware interrupts can be configured to IRQ3, IRQ4, IRQ5, IRQ7, IRQ10, IRQ11, IRQ12 or IRQ15 (via jumper). The card is also still capable of running on a PC with a 286 class processor. The interrupts can be shared with multiple PC-ISA-CAN-Cards in a single PC.
The card is equipped with the CAN-controller SJA1000 and the driver 82C251. The connection to the CAN-bus occurs via a 9-pin SUB-D plug, whose pin assignments correspond to the CiA-recommendation DS 102-1.
