CAN-Ethernet Gateway
Connecting CAN Networks over the Internet
|
PART #: GW-003-10 SYS TEC CAN-Ethernet Gateway $569.00 / single unit |
Description
Internet communication using TCP/IP becomes increasingly important in the industrial control sector. The SYS TEC CAN-Ethernet Gateway provides a ready-to-use solution for transparent connection of CAN networks within existing Ethernet topologies.
CAN messages are transferred transparently, regardless of the protocol used for Ethernet communication. This allows for implementation of the CAN-Ethernet Gateway in different high-layer protocol applications such as CANopen, DeviceNet or SDS.
Access over Ethernet can be achieved via both TCP and UDP. A single CAN-Ethernet Gateway can manage up to 3 active connections simultaneously. This makes it possible to connect two or more "remote" CAN networks and simultaneously access the bus from the PC using a service application.
The standatd version of the CAN-Ethernet Gateway provides one CAN bus interface. Configurable transmission filters are provided in order to limit the extent of CAN messages to be transferred. The CAN-Ethernet Gateway is intended for high data rates. Transfer peaks in the CAN network are buffered to ensure no messages are lost. In the event of very high CAN data traffic several CAN messages are consolidated for Ethernet transfer. Chronological transparence is ensured using time stamps which are applied to every CAN message.
Device drivers for Windows operating systems are included as well as a CANAPI2 interface driver that makes it possible to easily use standard CAN software such as ProCANopen™, PCANExplorer™ etc . In addition, the CAN-Ethernet Gateway can be used with all CAN related software offered by SYS TEC.
A variety of CAN Ethernet Gateway configuration options enable flexible adaptation to the target application. The configuration is stored in so-called RC files. A number of RC files for different applications are included on the product CD-ROM as templates for customized settings. The configuration shell is accessible via Telnet or the serial interface (RS 232, null-modem cable included in the package). No special configuration software is required on the host computer.
