Company Profile

In a quarter century of operations, PHYTEC has earned a reputation for high quality design and production of OEM-able System on Module (SOM) subassemblies and Rapid Development Kits that accelerate microcontroller-based embedded developments. Founded in 1986 by Karl Neubecker, PHYTEC remains a majority family-owned enterprise, with minority ownership shares held by the managers of our operational divisions.

In 1996 PHYTEC America LLC was established on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, thus making PHYTEC products and technical expertise readily available to the embedded community in the United States and Canada.  In the past decade, PHYTEC has evolved its primary product offering from dedicated Evalboards and Starter Kits to modular "evaluation-to-production" SOM subassemblies and Rapid Development Kits

With no debt or external financing, PHYTEC has funded our continued growth and expanding international presence through operations.  2001 saw the inauguration of our in-house, automated SMT production facility at PHYTEC Messtechnik.  2001 also marked the start of PHYTEC America’s semi-exclusive North American distributorship of PCAN hardware and software products from the German company PEAK-System Technik GmbH.  In recent years, we have evolved from 8- and 16-bit to advanced 32-bit processor support in our phyCORE family of System on Module subassemblies

As of 2011, the PHYTEC Technologie Holding AG has grown to more than 150 employees, of which nearly 50% are engineers.  In addition to our off-the-shelf SOMs and kits, PHYTEC offers newly-expanded Design and OEM Integration Services to assist in deploying our System on Module subassemblies into target applications.  With two decades of experience in design and assembly, our in-house design and production enables us to offer cost-effective customized production runs for all lot sizes, including smaller quantities.
